SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

Rule39#

A special meeting of delegates shall be held when the National Executive Committee or the National Council decides to hold such a meeting to discuss important problems effecting the working journalists or emergencies.

REQUISITIONING OF MEETING

Rule 42 #

Any 25% members of theNational Council can requisition in writting a meeting of the National Council to discuss a definite urget matter.

Rule 43 #

A noconfidence motion against National Executive committee or any of its members can be moved only at a national meeting conveyed for the purpose

VOTING

Rule 44 #

All elections under the union are by the secret ballot whether for the center or the state units or for their branches and units, if any.

STATE UNIONS,BRANCHES AND UNITS

Rule 45#

State Unions may make their own rules under their own constitutions but shall ,as far as possible ,observe the federal pattern .They shall also be competent to make rules for bodies affiliated with them.

Rule 46#

The constitution and rules of the affiliating State Unions shall be submitted the approval of National Executive Committee.

POWERS OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Rule 53#

  • Administration of the day to day affairs and funds of the union shall be in the hands National Executive Committee and shall be subject to the general direction of the National Council.
  • The National Executive Committee shall authorize the secretary-general to do work incidents to is office and any other duties that National Executive Committee interest him from time to time for effective administration of the union.
  • The National Executive committee shall also be entitled to exercise all the powers of the national council provided the decision is take by majority of two third of the members present and voting.
  • National Executive Committee shall nominate a maximum of eight members to the National Council for giving representation to newspaper establishements and language publications which are not represented in the National Council. The immediate Past-President and Secretary-General shall be ex-officio members of the National Council. POWERS OF NATIONAL COUNCIL

On the call given by the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) thousands of journalists came out on streets across the country on Wednesday to protest against the assassination of the warrior for freedom of expression and Editor of Lankesh Patrika Gauri Lankesh in Bangalore on Tuesday night by unknown assailants.

The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) hailed the Judgment of the Supreme Court quashing the draconian Section 66 A of the Information Technology Act which was misused by several state government to stifle expression of dissent against the ruling establishments.

The Indian Journalists' Union (IJU) strongly condemns the dastardly terrorist attack on the satirical weekly magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris and the cold-blooded murder of as many as 10 of its journalists, including its editor, and two policemen. Union Calls on government and employer to support widow's family

The Indian Journalists Union (IJU), the premier and most representative organisation of the working journalists in the country, welcomed the recommendation of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) for single Regulatory Authority for print and electronic media.

A statement issued in New Delhi, the IJU President S N Sinha, Secretary General Devulapalli Amar, expressed happiness over the Supreme Court Judgment saying it was a clear victory for working journalists and other newspaper employees, in their long-drawn battle. The two urged upon the Central and State Government to ensure speedy implementation of the Supreme Court order.
